Port Qasim Set for Major Upgrade as FM, PQA Chairman Chart New Course

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, held a meeting with Chairman Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Rear Admiral (R) Syed Moazzam Ilyas, to strategize on enhancing Port Qasim’s capacity and efficiency.

The minister underscored the port’s critical role in Pakistan’s trade and industrial sectors, instructing upgrades and streamlined processes to attract investors.

Chairman Ilyas briefed on ongoing projects, highlighting the port’s growing trade volume accommodation and challenges in expansion and sustainability. Both parties discussed solutions for these hurdles, reaffirming Port Qasim’s pivotal economic role.

Minister Chaudhry committed to addressing bottlenecks and governance improvements, advocating modern technology and global best practices for transforming Port Qasim into a regional maritime hub. The collaborative meeting concluded with a pledge to fortify Pakistan’s maritime sector and optimize port operations.
