ABBOTABAD:,,, Nine members of a family were killed when a roof of a katcha house collapsed on them near Abbotabad on Sunday.
According to rescue sources, a fire broke out in the house of Zakir Abbasi reportedly due to a short circuit in Tareeri area near Abbottabad. As a result, nine members of a family were killed due to the roof collapse and the impact of the fire.
The villagers rushed to the scene and started rescue efforts and later, a Rescue 1122 team with fire vehicles and three ambulances reached the incident site and conducted the rescue operation.
Those who died were Nagina, wife of Zakir, Saira, Tayba, Hashim, Laiba, Qasim, Hasan, Fatima and Sufyan. The rescue operation was supervised by Hafeezur Rahman, an Emergency Officer of Rescue 1122. Panic gripped the area soon after the incident. A mourning atmosphere prevailed in the village.
