Members of the Sindh Assembly from Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) expressed strong displeasure over the ongoing severe power load shedding in Karachi.
In their statement issued here today by the MQM Pakistan, they claimed that K-Electric has established a monopoly in the city akin to the East India Company, with the aim of exploiting citizens.
The members stated that despite various assurances, no changes have been made by K-Electric, which highlights the institution’s apathy. They questioned whether pushing Karachi into darkness is part of an organized plan.
They further mentioned that a large part of the city is facing electricity outages for more than sixteen hours. Both scheduled and unscheduled load shedding have caused mental distress to domestic and business consumers.
The Haqparast members of the assembly accused that the ‘Kunda Mafia’ is active throughout the city under the patronage of the institution’s employees. As a result, bill-paying consumers are suffering losses, while the institution fails to provide basic services to the public.
The members demanded the Prime Minister to take measures to stop the alleged tyranny of K-Electric on Karachi’s economic lifeline.
