National Health and Population Policy reviewed Amid Economic Challenges

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, engaged in a key meeting today to assess the progress on the National Health and Population Policy (NHPP) for 2025-34.

The session involved senior officers from the Ministry of Finance and a dedicated NHPP team led by Dr. Sameen Siddiqi. The team provided an update on the policy’s formulation, highlighting its focus on evidence-based strategies within the constraints of Pakistan’s macroeconomic landscape.

The NHPP team emphasized goals such as restructuring health infrastructure and addressing high population growth. They also presented proposals to improve resource allocation and ensure health services reach vulnerable populations.

Senator Aurangzeb praised the progress and urged the team to submit their formal recommendations for further review. He noted the importance of aligning the policy with international standards and the $20 billion Country Partnership Framework with the World Bank aimed at supporting key development areas. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to tackle health challenges sustainably.
