ISLAMABAD:Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar on Friday administered the oath to Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki as the interim chief minister of the province in a ceremony held at the Governor’s House Quetta. Balochistan Chief Secretary read the official notification before the oath ceremony that was also attended by senior civil, military officials and others. Earlier, Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, and the Leader of the Opposition, Malik Sikandar could not decide the name of the interim chief minister. The matter was referred to the committee. On Thursday, Domki called on the caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar at the PM office along with former provincial chief executive Jam Kamal.

Reportedly, Domki’s name was suggested by former CM Jam Kamal and Malik Sikander after a meeting with interim PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Domki belongs to the Lahri area of Balochistan. He is the son of former senator Mir Hazor Bakhsh Domki who was a senator from 1975 to 1977. Balochistan’s assembly was the last one to be dissolved after Sindh and the National Assembly following the completion of their constitutional terms.

After taking the oath, Caretaker Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki in a media conversation said that holding elections is purely the job of the Election Commission of Pakistan. “Our task is to make the elections free and transparent,” he added.

He expressed hope that elections will be held on time. Ali Mardan Domki said that they will try to solve the problems of the province in his short stint. Caretaker CM further revealed that it has also been decided to repeat the census in the province. I am ready to talk to anyone for the betterment of Balochistan province, he hinted.
