ISLAMABAD:In a major progress in Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) test scandal, the authorities in Peshawar have identified 134 more suspected candidates on Monday.
The Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) officials have said that these individuals will now appear before the UFM Committee. Their papers, too, will be presented in the court, they have said, and added, “When the papers of 3,200 successful candidates were rechecked, it was found out that they had not done the numerical work.”
The officials have said that 3,100 candidates, however, did the rough work. As many as 219 candidates were caught red-handed while cheating with Bluetooth.
After the scandal was reported, the caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had to declare the results of the MDCAT void, and announce that the exam would now be reconducted. Earlier this month, over 40 candidates, including 20 females, had been arrested while solving papers with the help of Bluetooth device.
Police had also lodged several cases in this connection. Secretary of Higher Education Anila Durrani told media that there was a gang that took hefty amounts from students in return for helping them solve the test with the help of Bluetooth.
