Tribesmen reject Rekodiq Copper-Gold project agreement

QUETTA:Chief of Badozai tribe, Sardar Alyar Khan Badozai, has said that Rekodiq Copper and Gold project’s agreement concluded with Barrick Gold Corporation without taking into confidence the local tribes of Rekodiq was not acceptable to the local tribes of Chagai.

 

Addresses a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Saturday, he said that real owners of Rekodiq were not consulted prior to concluding agreement with Barrick Gold Corporation regarding Rekodiq Copper and Gold Project, adding that the said agreement was not recognizable internationally.

 

He said that it was not acceptable to the local tribes that Rekodiq Copper and Gold Project be used for the ruination of progeny, hence, he added that local tribes had the right to challenge the agreement of Rekodiq Copper and Gold Project concluded between the Government of Balochistan and Barrick Gold Corporation at national and international forums.

 

On the occasion, Sardar Raza Muhammad Naroe, Sardar Madad Khan Dagogi, Sardar Mazar Khan Mandani, Sardar Ghafoor Lajebi, Mir Alla-ud-Din, Hafiz Abdul Bari, Takari Abdul Hameed and large number of tribesmen from district Chagai were also present.
