Sindh Chief Minister meets with ADB Country Director, progress on sewerage treatment plant reviewed

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Emma Fan, during an important meeting at the Chief Minister’s House today, discussed accelerating the pace of key development projects in the province. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers and members of the ADB delegation, who highlighted issues of improving infrastructure and urban transport, with a special focus on the BRT Red Line.

The progress of various ongoing projects financially supported by the ADB was emphasized in the meeting, including urban transport, infrastructure development, and environmental protection initiatives. Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon provided an update on resolving the challenges surrounding the Red Line project, on which the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress.

Chief Minister Shah highlighted the significant role of ADB’s initiatives in improving the lives of Sindh’s citizens and termed the bank a steadfast development partner. He assured the removal of obstacles in the way of the Red Line project and committed to accelerating its progress. ADB’s Emma Fan acknowledged the Sindh government’s efforts, praised the province’s commitment and performance, and promised to provide additional resources and continue cooperation for timely project completion.

The conference also agreed on strengthening safety protocols for the BRT system and reviewed the development of the TP-4 sewerage treatment facility, for which more extensive involvement of the ADB was urged. The discussion also extended to the Coastal Development Project and six other projects, with a total value of $75 million, which are currently awaiting approval.

This strategic partnership between the Sindh government, ADB, and the World Bank is set to strengthen the development alliance and achieve common goals.
