Pakistan and Slovenia formalized a new chapter in their diplomatic relations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a mechanism for Bilateral Political Consultations, a significant development emerging from the fourth EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum.
According to an official report today, the agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and his Slovenian counterpart, Tanja Fajon. Both leaders committed to maintaining regular contact through bilateral and multilateral channels to further advance cooperation across various areas of mutual interest.
During their discussions, the two ministers reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exchanged views on key regional and global developments.
Following the signing, Minister Dar extended an invitation to Minister Fajon to visit Islamabad for the inaugural round of these consultations. He also encouraged Slovenia”s participation in the upcoming Pak-EU Business Forum, scheduled for April 2026.
In a separate high-level engagement on the forum”s sidelines, Pakistan and Denmark affirmed their intention to maintain close contact within multilateral frameworks, particularly as they prepare to serve as fellow non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the 2025-26 term.
The consensus was reached in a discussion between Minister Dar and Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The two officials acknowledged the positive trajectory of their nations” relationship and explored avenues to enhance collaboration in sectors including economy, investment, trade, green energy, and people-to-people exchanges.
Minister Dar also held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos. The dialogue centered on bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, with both parties agreeing to stay in close contact in this regard.
