207,758 illegal immigrants return to Afghanistan so far

ISLAMABAD:,,, The repatriation of illegal Afghan immigrants from Pakistan to Afghanistan is an ongoing process, with 207,758 individuals having returned so far, the authorities said on Thursday.

Undocumented Afghan immigrants are returning in significant numbers daily, primarily through border crossings at Chaman and Torkham. This repatriation includes women and children, who receive free transport services from the Landi Kotal holding camp to the Torkham border, which links Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Voluntary repatriation is actively promoted, and efforts are made to facilitate the return of undocumented Afghan immigrants. Moreover, the Pakistan government has decided to extend the stay of registered Afghan refugees in the country by six months. This extension, until December 31, 2023, benefits those holding Proof of Registration (POR) cards, ensuring continued support for registered Afghan refugees and their families in Pakistan.

Yesterday, 4,119 illegal Afghan immigrants returned to their homes. Afghan nationals’ 702 families travelled to Afghanistan in 251 vehicles.
