Thousands of government posts abolished in Punjab, ban imposed on future recruitments

The Government of Punjab has formally abolished thousands of government posts from Grade 1 to Grade 16 in various departmental divisions. This important policy change also orders an immediate halt to all new appointments and future recruitments on the abolished posts.

According to information received today from official sources, the education department is among the most affected sectors by this extensive cut, with a significant reduction of 30,391 posts. Other departments with notable reductions include agriculture (5,199 posts) and irrigation (1,040 posts).

Further departmental changes include the abolition of 727 posts in the housing, urban, and public health sectors, and the abolition of 753 posts in the forest department. 665 posts will be abolished in the social welfare and Bait-ul-Mal department, while information and culture face a reduction of 117 posts.

Smaller scale changes include the abolition of 244 posts in the special education department, (81) in zakat and ushr, and (7) in auqaf and religious affairs. The primary source of this information has been attributed to the Government of Punjab.
