In a meeting held on Tuesday morning, the Consul General of Thailand, Surashete Boontinand, and Karachi Mayor, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, explored avenues for collaboration and development.

Mayor Wahab welcomed the Thai Consul General to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s head office, expressing solidarity with Thailand following the recent earthquake. He affirmed Pakistan’s support for the Thai nation during this challenging period and wished for a swift recovery.

During their discussion, Mayor Wahab highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve Karachi’s infrastructure through the cooperation of the provincial government. He emphasized that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is committed to enhancing municipal services, noting the initiation of developmental projects across the city aimed at upgrading basic infrastructure. These projects, including road and bridge construction, streetlight repairs, and modernization of water and sewage systems, are designed to benefit citizens in their daily lives.

Mayor Wahab also pointed out the strategic significance of Karachi as a business and industrial hub, underlining its role in maritime activities and trade due to its connectivity with the Middle East and Central Asian states. He assured Mr. Boontinand of attractive investment opportunities for foreign investors, pledging full cooperation for Thai investments in Karachi.

Boontinand extended an invitation to Mayor Wahab to attend an upcoming festival at the Thai Consulate. He conveyed the Thai government’s positive sentiments for Karachi’s development and praised the ongoing efforts to enhance facilities for residents. The meeting concluded with hopes for fruitful outcomes from the developmental initiatives in Karachi.
