Stores selling unregistered medicines to be sealed: health secretary

QUETTA: Secretary Health Department, Balochistan, Abdullah Khan, has said that medical stores selling unregistered medicines, fake medicines and selling medicines in black would be sealed besides taking legal besides taking legal action against owners of medical stores found guilty of selling unregistered medicines, fake medicines and selling medicines in black.

These views were expressed by him while chairing a meeting of the “Quality Control Board” here on Saturday. He said permission for opening medical stores would be given after issuing licence for selling medicines, adding medical stores selling medicines without license would be sealed.

He said that warranty bill was essential for procuring medicines from distributors. He directed drug inspectors to take action against medical store selling sedative medicines without prescriptions of doctors. Cases with regard to medicines were reported placed before quality control board for consideration after deliberations, the board disposed off the cases in the light of Drug Act 1976.

Reports with regard to action taken by different drug inspectors against different pharmaceutical companies over violation of Drug Act, 1976 were also presented in the meeting. Meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Health Department, Arif Khan Achakzai, member quality control board professor Umer Khan, Secretary, quality control board, Moiz Khan, Chief Drug Inspector, Zahid Salik, Drug Inspector Amber and others.
