Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, reviewed budget proposals targeting the industrial sector.

A high-level meeting here today attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production Mr. Saif Anjum, and representatives from the Engineering Development Board and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, focused on enhancing local manufacturing and revising customs duties.

The Ministry put forward a proposal for a 20% Regulatory Duty on LED lighting products, drawing attention to the structure of import and export regulations. Mr. Khan instructed revisions in the budget proposals, underscoring the need for tax reforms to elevate the industrial sector.

He suggested introducing a super tax to align Pakistan’s corporate tax structure with regional standards. Emphasizing the Prime Minister’s vision, he urged the creation of a business-friendly environment to boost industrial investment and highlighted the necessity of supporting local industries and SMEs.

Mr. Khan also tasked relevant departments with identifying and removing barriers to industrial development, aiming to foster sustainable economic growth in the country.
