President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, said that the resolution of the Kashmir issue is the key to peace in South Asia, and the involvement of the European Union is crucial for resolving the Kashmir issue. Regional stability depends on the resolution of this issue. Pointing to the increasing human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir over the past seven decades, he urged the European Union to appoint a special envoy to highlight these violations.

President Chaudhry, referring to former US President Donald Trump’s offer of mediation between Pakistan and India on the Kashmir issue, said it brought global attention to this conflict. He urged the Kashmiri diaspora, especially Kashmiris living in European Union countries, to strive for the resolution of this issue and raise awareness about ongoing human rights violations through diplomatic channels.

The Azad Kashmir President referred to the Emma Nicholson report presented in the European Parliament, which detailed human rights violations and the discovery of mass graves in Indian-administered Kashmir. He encouraged overseas Kashmiris, particularly those residing in the European Union, to present their case before the international community. He said this while talking to his Advisor on European Union Affairs, Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed, at Kashmir House.

President Chaudhry directed Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed to highlight the Kashmir issue and the human rights situation in Indian-administered Kashmir in the European Union and the European Parliament. Mentioning the nuclear capabilities of India and Pakistan, he warned that any untoward incident could lead to a major war. He appealed to the international community, especially the European Union, to intervene in resolving the Kashmir issue for regional peace.

Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed invited President Chaudhry to visit Brussels, which the President accepted. The schedule of the visit will be released soon. Both also exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest.
