Protestors demand implementation of five percent job quota for disabled persons

QUETTA: International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) was celebrated on Sunday in the provincial capital, however, some persons with disabilities, including women and children, staged a protest demonstration outside Quetta Press Club, observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) as black day.

According to detail, a protest demonstration under the aegis of Supreme Welfare Society for Persons with Disabilities Balochistan was staged outside Quetta Press Club.

Protesters chanted slogans “implement five percent quota for appointment of disabled persons in government departments” “Give rights to Persons with Disabilities” and “Down with caretaker provincial government”.

Addressing the protest demonstration, speakers said that those who were celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) in luxury hotels of the town were not sincere with the rights of persons with disabilities.

They said that five persons quota reserved for disabled persons for appointment in government departments was not being implemented due to which most of the disabled persons of the province were exceeding the upper age limit.

They demanded of the authorities to get five percent quota reserved for the appointment of disabled persons in government departments. Protest demonstration was addressed by Saddiqullah Reki, General Secretary, Supreme Welfare Society for Persons with Disabilities Balochistan.
