PPP Parliamentary Party Meeting Held in Islamabad, Important Decisions Made

A parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party, chaired by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, was held in Islamabad, where significant achievements in the federal budget were highlighted. MNA Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also attended the meeting, held in Committee Room No. 5, which included PPP members from all legislative bodies.

Bhutto Zardari directed the party lawmakers to approve the budget after briefing them on the amendments made as a result of their suggestions and PPP recommendations.

A notable achievement is the 20% increase in the budget for the Benazir Income Support Program. Furthermore, the levy on solar panels has been almost halved thanks to the party’s advocacy. Contentious changes in FBR-related legislation were withdrawn after strong objections from the PPP.

The chairman was informed that a 10% increase in government employees’ salaries and a 7% increase in retired employees’ pensions have been incorporated into the budget based on PPP proposals. The tax exemption on income up to Rs. 100,000 for the salaried class was also granted at the party’s request. Finally, funds for Sindh’s educational institutions, initially cut, have been restored by the federal government after PPP’s intervention.
