Pakistan’s Future Hinges On Higher Education And Technology: Gillani

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani on Thursday emphasized the crucial role of higher education and technological progress in shaping Pakistan’s future, stating that these elements are essential for the nation’s prosperity.

Speaking at the 29th Convocation of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) in Swabi, he discussed Pakistan”s journey through the Fifth Industrial Revolution.

Gillani noted that transformative technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the Internet of Things are reshaping global industries and economies. He highlighted Pakistan’s growing digital economy, with IT exports expected to reach USD 5 billion this year. The Chairman stressed that the nation”s future relies on intellectual and human capital, with higher education serving as the cornerstone of national growth.

He urged graduating students to acquire contemporary skills, assume global leadership positions, and contribute to a secure and sustainable future for Pakistan. Gillani emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving learning models and utilizing emerging technologies. He also acknowledged Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto”s dedication to education, recalling her view that educational investment equates to investing in the nation”s future.

Gillani awarded degrees to 548 graduates, comprising 470 Bachelor”s, 65 Master”s, and 13 PhD recipients. Gold medals were presented to students with outstanding academic achievements. The event was attended by graduates, families, faculty, academic leaders, and other dignitaries. Engr Salim Saifullah Khan, President of SOPREST, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his presence. He reaffirmed GIKI”s dedication to producing future-ready graduates and highlighted the importance of national self-sufficiency. He also praised the faculty”s commitment and parental backing.
