Pakistan Urges Immediate Ceasefire and Dialogue to Resolve Ukraine Conflict

Pakistan has strongly advocated for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, appealing to all involved parties to engage in a sustained and meaningful dialogue process to de-escalate the ongoing conflict.

According to an official information today, delivering a formal statement to the UN Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized that the protection of civilian lives and essential infrastructure must be treated as a paramount concern.

The ambassador reiterated the critical importance of upholding the principles of International humanitarian law, noting a growing consensus that “there is no military solution to this conflict.”

He urged all sides to demonstrate the necessary political will for a structured and result-oriented diplomatic process. This process, he detailed, must address the security concerns of all parties and be firmly anchored in the principles of the UN Charter, international law, and relevant multilateral agreements.

Ambassador Ahmad identified a cessation of hostilities as “the first logical and necessary step” toward a peaceful resolution.

He concluded by affirming that Pakistan remains a firm believer in the power of diplomacy and dialogue, pledging continued support for all endeavors aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and durable peace.
