Pakistan has secured a significant financial commitment from Germany, which has pledged 114 million euros for the 2025-26 period to support climate initiatives, sustainable economic development, and social protection programs within the country.

According to an official information today, the substantial aid commitment was confirmed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, held on the sidelines of the fourth EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed his appreciation for the German pledge, which is focused on climate and energy transition, vocational training, and sustainable economic growth. During the discussions, he also extended an invitation to the German leadership to visit Pakistan.

Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Germany relations and reaffirmed their mutual desire to further bolster cooperation across defence, political, economic, trade, investment, and educational domains.

The ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments, concurring on the need to maintain a close dialogue to promote mutual understanding and enhance collaboration in areas of shared interest.

In separate diplomatic engagements at the forum, Ishaq Dar met with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro. The two officials reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and identified new opportunities for mutual cooperation.

They noted their contentment with ongoing collaboration at the United Nations and other multilateral fora, particularly through reciprocal support for each other”s candidatures, and restated their commitment to remain in close contact.

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister held talks with Sri Lanka”s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra. They highlighted the importance of fortifying the existing fraternal ties between the two nations through high-level exchanges.

The Pakistani and Sri Lankan ministers underlined the necessity of capitalizing on the immense goodwill between their countries by expanding partnership across diverse fields, including trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, defence, agriculture, and human resource development. Both sides agreed to continue their close collaboration bilaterally and at international forums.
