Pakistan Urges Global Intervention as India Threatens Regional Stability

A high-level delegation led by former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party wrapped up a two-day visit to the United Nations Headquarters, highlighting escalating regional tensions due to India’s alleged aggressive maneuvers.

As part of Pakistan’s international outreach, the group brought to the global stage concerns over India”s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a critical resource for over 240 million Pakistanis.

During their visit, the delegation engaged with key figures, including the UN Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly, to present Pakistan”s perspective on the threat to international peace posed by India”s actions. They accused India of unlawful behaviors, stressing violations of international law and the UN Charter, particularly accusations against India for targeting civilian areas and causing harm to innocents in regions like Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation unequivocally rejected unfounded allegations by India linking Pakistan to the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the absence of evidence. Additionally, they condemned India”s unilateral control over the Indus Waters Treaty, which they viewed as a strategic weaponization of water resources against Pakistan.

Championing Pakistan”s role in global counter-terrorism, the delegation reiterated the nation”s sacrifices and contributions, while calling attention to Indian-sponsored terrorism within Pakistan. They urged for cooperation over politicization in tackling terrorism’s global threat.

Pakistan’s representatives emphasized their nation’s restrained response to Indian hostilities, advocating for peace yet asserting readiness to safeguard its sovereignty. They warned against India’s attempts to normalize arbitrary strikes, stressing such actions could destabilize South Asia’s nuclear equilibrium.

Highlighting Jammu and Kashmir”s unresolved status as central to lasting peace in South Asia, the delegation urged adherence to UN Security Council resolutions and the sentiments of the Kashmiri populace. The international community was called upon to uphold treaty sanctity, revive the Indus Waters Treaty, and foster dialogue between India and Pakistan.

The visit concluded with a firm message: Pakistan seeks amicable relations with neighbors grounded in equality and respect, while rejecting aggression and violations of international standards.
