Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Indonesian Defence Minister, Lieutenant General (Retd) Prabowo Subianto, today pledged to broaden collaboration between their nations, focusing on mutually beneficial investments and joint ventures.
During Subianto’s visit to Islamabad on Tuesday, the two leaders discussed strengthening ties in economic, strategic, trade, defense, and defense production sectors. The leaders reaffirmed the strong, historical bond between Pakistan and Indonesia, emphasizing shared cultural, religious, and historical connections. They highlighted mutual support on international platforms and a commitment to expanding cooperation across various sectors.
Prime Minister Sharif recalled his positive interaction with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the G-8 Summit in Cairo and conveyed his regards. The Indonesian Defence Minister reciprocated, extending President Widodo’s best wishes to the Prime Minister and the Pakistani populace.
The discussions also included a review of current initiatives under the Pakistan-Indonesia Defence Cooperation Agreement. Both sides agreed to expedite implementation in key areas of shared interest, with a particular focus on exploring opportunities in defense production. The Indonesian minister reiterated his nation”s eagerness to fortify defense relations with Pakistan.
