A recent survey has revealed that only 23% of Pakistani households report women watching cricket with interest.
According to the study conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, a significant 67% of respondents stated that the females in their families do not follow cricket enthusiastically. This data suggests a substantial disparity in cricket viewership based on gender, despite the sport”s widespread national popularity.
The survey, conducted between March 7 and March 22, 2025, involved a nationally representative sample of 779 adults from both urban and rural areas across all four provinces. Urban women showed slightly higher engagement (26%) compared to their rural counterparts (21%). The remaining 10% of respondents either did not know the answer or chose not to respond.
Data was collected via Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI), and the margin of error is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3% at a 95% confidence level. The findings originate from the Gilani Research Foundation and were released by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, affiliated with Gallup International.
