Pakistan, China Military Leaders Vow To Combat Hybrid Threats

Pakistan and China’s top military officials have pledged closer coordination to address evolving security challenges, including what they termed ‘hybrid and transnational threats,’ during a high-profile visit by Pakistan’s army chief to Beijing.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, met with senior Chinese political and military leaders, including Vice President Han Zheng, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and key figures within the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The discussions centered on regional security, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the need for collaborative strategies to navigate geopolitical complexities.

Both nations affirmed their strong bilateral ties and dedication to regional stability. China commended Pakistan’s armed forces for their contribution to peace in South Asia. Munir’s meetings with PLA leadership, including General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, focused on deepening defense and security cooperation.

Discussions covered counterterrorism initiatives, joint military exercises, defense modernization, and stronger institutional connections. The emphasis on enhancing operational synergy and strategic alignment reflects a shared concern about non-traditional security risks. China expressed confidence in the bilateral defense relationship and recognized Pakistan”s significant part in maintaining regional peace.

Munir expressed gratitude for China”s ongoing backing and pledged Pakistan’s commitment to broadening military collaboration. The visit highlights the deepening political and military connections between the two nations and their shared dedication to regional security through continued high-level dialogue.
