The National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) today concluded a series of proactive maintenance activities on its transmission infrastructure, aiming to reinforce the stability of the national power system ahead of the high-demand periods of Ramzan and the approaching summer.
The work, carried out by the company’s Asset Management teams, focused on essential upgrades at several high-voltage grid stations across the country to prevent potential outages.
Key activities included busbar maintenance at the 500kV Nokhar Grid Station, the overhaul of circuit breakers at the 220kV Kala Shah Kaku Grid Station, and the servicing of an on-load tap changer on a 250 MVA autotransformer at the 220kV Sarfraznagar Grid Station.
Further technical upkeep involved the overhauling of an on-load tap changer on a 160 MVA autotransformer at the 500kV Jamshoro Grid Station. “Planned maintenance is the most effective tool we have for preventing unplanned outages,” said NGC spokesperson Muhammad Ibrahim. He noted that completing this work in advance helps ensure consumers can rely on a stable power supply during a critical time.
To supervise the works, NGC management has assigned special responsibilities to Engr. Anees Ahmed, General Manager (Asset Management) North, and Engr. Muhammad Rafiq, General Manager (Asset Management) South, to ensure the ongoing maintenance programme is completed in a timely, high-quality, and safe manner.
The company stated that such scheduled maintenance is part of its ongoing commitment to providing dependable transmission service for consumers and distribution companies nationwide.
