Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Mohammad Tahir, has directed law enforcement personnel to keep a “hawk’s eye” on all suspicious individuals and activities, emphasizing the increased responsibilities of the force in the sensitive border district during a one-day visit to review the security situation.
The provincial police chief’s visit began on Monday morning with a formal guard of honor presented by a smart contingent of police at the DC Complex Chaman, where a student, Mohammad Konain, also presented him with a bouquet.
Mr. Tahir later presided over a high-level meeting on law and order at the DPO office. DPO Chaman Abdullah Imran Cheema, along with senior military officials and DPO Qilla Abdullah Shahid Jamil Khan Kakar, gave a detailed briefing on the security situation in the region.
Addressing a police durbar at the District Assembly Hall, the Inspector General stated that the primary duty of the police and security agencies is to protect the lives and property of the public. He emphasized that this responsibility increases significantly in a sensitive area like Chaman.
He further stressed that the police force must remain in constant contact with all security agencies to deal with any untoward incident and to strengthen the writ of the state. He directed the personnel to remain alert and vigilant during their duty so that citizens can live in peace and tranquility.
During his visit, the IG also inspected the Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate) at the Pak-Afghan border to personally review the arrangements.
His tour’s itinerary also included an inspection of the Shaheed ASI Dr. Saadullah Police Post in Qilla Abdullah, a visit to the Maizi Adda Police Station to review its various sections, and a visit to the DPO office in Qilla Abdullah, where he was welcomed and briefed on the local security situation.
