HEC Elevates Academic Publishing with 4th National Workshop

To elevate the quality and international visibility of academic research in Pakistan, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) organised the 4th Editors Orientation Capacity-Building Workshop on Journal Recognition at Government College University, Faisalabad.

The workshop attracted over 90 participants, including journal editors, researchers, and faculty members from across South Punjab. It was designed to enhance editorial practices and align local journals with global publishing standards, marking a significant step towards strengthening Pakistan”s academic publishing landscape.

Dean Faculty of Management at Virtual University of Pakistan, Dr. Ather Azim, delivered the keynote address. Dr. Azim, who has over three decades of experience in academia and the corporate sector, provided participants with practical insights into editorial management and institutional development.

The event featured interactive sessions on crucial topics such as the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, peer review mechanisms, editorial policies and procedures, and best practices in academic publishing.

Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), Dr. Rauf e Azam, highlighted the essential need for continuous professional development to enhance the quality, credibility, and global reach of Pakistani research journals during the closing ceremony.

This workshop is part of HEC’s broader strategy to bolster Pakistan’s research infrastructure and promote integration with the international academic community.
