Attack on Mianwali Airbase was pre-planned: CM

LAHORE:Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said Sunday that the attack on Mianwali Airbase was carried out through a comprehensive planning.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, the chief minister claimed that the whole footage of the airbase attack was in their possession, adding action would be taken in this case and every attacker would be punished.

Mr Naqvi said the attackers of the airbase were armed and they wanted to destroy all the aircraft parked at the base. The rioters also tried to torch the GPO office in Mianwali.

The Punjab chief minister said that a loss to the tune of Rs6 billion was incurred to the national exchequer. He further said that the same group of people who attacked the Corps Commander House in Lahore also launched an attack on the Askari Tower.

Mr Naqvi divulged that total 108 vehicles including vehicles at Corps Commander House were torched. Six vehicles of WASA were set on fire. He said that the public property was also damaged by the PTI vandals.

He vowed to bring to justice every violent element involved in the incidents of vandalism erupted after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on May 9.

CM Naqvi said that PTI Central Punjab President Dr Yasmeen Rashid has played a central role in all these incidents.
