The Provincial Apex Committee has strongly condemned the use of Afghan soil for hostile actions against Pakistan and lauded the effective defense strategy and timely retaliatory measures of the Pakistan Army. During the 21st meeting held today under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the committee also expressed full confidence in the leadership of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Field Marshal General Asim Munir.
In a detailed briefing on the law and order situation by the Home Department, it was stated that 721,000 Afghan refugees have been repatriated from the province, while a total of approximately one million people have been sent back home via Balochistan. It was reported that operations against undocumented foreign nationals are ongoing, and a reward of Rs. 50,000 has been offered for providing credible information.
Security measures have also been tightened against elements involved in poppy cultivation, and 330 individuals have been included in the Fourth Schedule. Furthermore, disciplinary action has been initiated against nine government officials for their alleged involvement in anti-state activities, and show-cause notices have been issued for their potential dismissal. The committee termed the disassociation expressed by the families of individuals involved in terrorism as a positive development.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented its progress against illegal money transfers like Hawala and Hundi, and extortion. The agency reported the arrest of 24 accused and the conviction of 16 in related cases, and assured that further operations are ongoing. The committee praised the FIA’s improved performance and directed to further accelerate these measures.
In the education sector, it was reported that 200,000 out-of-school children were successfully enrolled in educational institutions last year. The meeting was also informed that a biometric attendance system is functional in 10 out of the 12 universities in the province, and directives have been issued to extend this system to colleges and schools in the next phase.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that as the writ of the state strengthens, the results of its prevention strategy are becoming evident. He said, “A laborer’s child will no longer remain a laborer but will reach new heights through education and merit,” calling the selection of five children from laborer families into the PAF this year a proud honor for the province.
The Chief Minister emphasized the patriotism of the region’s youth, stating that 28,000 young people from Balochistan are currently serving in the Pak Army and FC. He affirmed that all state institutions are united in their goal of establishing peace and stability, and warned that no one would be allowed to sabotage public peace and order. Bugti concluded, “No leniency will be shown to those who engage in negative propaganda against the state; strict action will be taken according to the law.”
The meeting was attended by the Commander Quetta Corps, along with other senior civil and military officials.
