22nd Death Anniversary of Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim Khan Observed

President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, paid tribute to Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim Khan on his 22nd death anniversary and highlighted his central role in the liberation and formation of Azad Kashmir.

The AJK President termed Sardar Ibrahim Khan as the founder of the region, highlighting his leadership in the freedom struggle and representation of Kashmiris at the United Nations. He acknowledged Khan’s crucial role in the liberation of Azad Kashmir and the establishment of its government in October 1947.

Recalling his own tenure as Prime Minister from 1996 to 2001 under Sardar Ibrahim Khan’s presidency, Chaudhry acknowledged the late leader’s steadfast guidance. He noted that despite several governmental changes during his term, he successfully completed his five-year term, attributing this stability to Khan’s leadership.

Chaudhry credited Khan with significant development projects during that period, including the Jugran Hydropower Project, a major source of revenue for Azad Kashmir. He also mentioned the establishment of Cadet College Palandri, the inauguration of natural gas in Mirpur, the construction of the Goin Nallah Road in Rawalakot, the Rahman Bridge and Bypass in Kotli, a comprehensive education program, a women’s college in Bagh, and the formation of the Bagh and Neelum Development Authorities. While praising Khan for these advancements, Chaudhry took responsibility for any shortcomings.

Finally, Chaudhry reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the Kashmir issue globally, referring to Azad Kashmir as the “base camp of freedom”. He pledged to fight against human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir and work towards its liberation.
