15 godowns sealed in Kandhkot

IKANDHKOT: Thousands of sacks of wheat illegally stored in private warehouses of various traders were raided by the officials of the food department and the deputy commissioner, Kashmore @ Kandhkot Munwar Ali Nithani which were unlawfully stored by hoarders in Kandhkot here on Wednesday.

The raiding party included the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Munawar Ali Mithani, District Food Controller (DFC) Akhtar Hussain Bozdar and Food Inspector Ishaque Magsi. The raiding party raided various warehouses of Kandhkot trading community who are said to be habitual of hoarding the wheat and other commodities for their ulterior motives and seized thousands of bags of illegally stored wheat and sealed more than 15 warehouses, said a handout issued by the Information Department. DC on the occasion said that legal action is also being taken against traders who store wheat and are involved in unlawful business.

He said that to achieve Sindh Government target raids will be conducted regularly on receipt of information against habitual profiteers and hoarders and mill owners across the district who are involved in illegal trade for their own benefits ignoring the poor public and government interests.
