KARACHI: Sindh excise department reported on Sunday that it has collected a total of Rs1248.026 million property tax from July to November 2021 as compared to Rs1057.857 million collected same period last year.

Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla releasing the details of the collected property tax said today that during the current financial year’s period from July to November, the property tax of Rs1159.206 million had been collected from Karachi, Rs48.851 million from Hyderabad and Rs20.973 million from Sukkur.

He further informed that the property tax of Rs5.266 million had been collected from Shaheed Benazirabad, Rs8.866 million from Larkana and Rs4.864 million from Mirpurkhas. He said that strict action needed to be taken to recover property tax. The officers should pay special attention to the collection of property tax, he added.

Chawla said that through media, property tax defaulters would be motivated to deposit property tax and said that in case of non-payment of property tax, shops, houses and other properties might be sealed with fines too. He said that computerized challans had been issued to the property tax defaulters and in case of non-receipt of computerized challans, the concerned excise office should be contacted.
