KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in a meeting on law and order on Wednesday ordered the arrest of the killers involved in the murder of Secretary Sinch Bar Council Irfan Mahar Advocate, who was shot dead this morning in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area.
“I want the killer of Irfan Mahar be arrested at any cost,” the chief minister said while chairing an emergency meeting here today. The chief minister also directed police officials to take stern measures to curb street crimes in the city. He directed the police to take steps to control mobile phone and car snatching incidents.
He also directed the police to trace immediately the robbers involved in bank heist in FB Area of the city. He also ordered launching a crackdown against mainpuri, gutka, mawa, and other contraband items being sold in the city.

Advocate Irfan Ali Mehar, 40, was coming back to home in his car after dropping his child at a school when unidentified gunmen riding a bike shot him dead near Chappal Plaza in Block-13 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar. Police said it appeared to be a targeted killing. CCTV footage of the incident on social media showed that the armed pillion riders shot Mehar at point-blank range, said the police.
The Sinch Bar Council and the Karachi Bar Association has strongly condemned the incident and also announced boycotting of the court proceedings. The lawyers boycotted court proceedings at the City Courts after the incident.
