World Bank Appoints New Pakistan Chief

The World Bank has appointed Bolormaa Amgaabazar as its new Country Director for Pakistan, effective July 1. She replaces Mr Najy Benhassine.

Amgaabazar expressed enthusiasm about her new post, emphasizing the enduring collaboration between the World Bank and Pakistan. She anticipates strengthening relationships with various governmental bodies, community organizations, businesses, and international partners, a World Bank report said today .

A Mongolian citizen, Amgaabazar brings over 20 years of experience in global advancement. Since joining the World Bank in 2004, she has contributed to projects in East Asia and the Pacific, Africa, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She has also served in leadership capacities in the Bank”s offices in the Kyrgyz Republic and, recently, in Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Before joining the institution, Amgaabazar engaged in international progress initiatives in Mongolia, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste.

Amgaabazar affirmed the World Bank’s ongoing commitment to helping Pakistan tackle pressing developmental hurdles, including childhood malnutrition, educational deficiencies, the significant effects of climate variability, and the stability of its power sector.
