In a move to foster environmental understanding and conservation, the University of Turbat (UoT) orchestrated an insightful field trip to the mangrove-rich region of Kalmat Kor (Borani Kuch) near Pasni at Gwadar. This excursion was tailored for final-year, 7th-, and 5th-semester scholars enrolled in the Botany program within the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, focusing on courses such as Biodiversity and Conservation and Halophytes.

Accompanied by faculty members Mr. Irshad Mayar, Dr. Sumera, Mr. Wajid Ali, and Ms. Zohra, the students delved into the crucial ecological functions of mangrove ecosystems. The educators elaborated on how these coastal forests bolster aquatic biodiversity and serve as a lifeline for neighboring communities through activities like fishing and crab cultivation.

The budding botanists closely examined prominent mangrove species, including Rhizophora mucronata and Avicennia marina, while also touring designated crab farming sites. This hands-on experience significantly augmented their comprehension of ecosystem stewardship and preservation techniques.

The delegation extended heartfelt thanks to Kalmat UC Secretary, Liaquat Baloch, for his pivotal role in facilitating this educational venture, underscoring the collaborative efforts essential for successful environmental education and outreach.
