A high-value terrorist commander with a PKR 5 million bounty on his head was among four militants eliminated as Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted a major cross-border infiltration attempt from Afghanistan into the Bajaur District.

The slain commander was identified as Amjad, also known as Mazahim, a key figure who served as the deputy to Kharji Noor Wali and headed the Rehbari Shura of the Fitna al Khawarij network, the military’s media wing stated on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), law enforcement agencies had been seeking Amjad for orchestrating numerous violent activities inside Pakistan while operating from bases in Afghanistan.

The incident occurred on the night of October 29 and 30 when troops effectively engaged a group of infiltrators attempting to breach the border. Following the engagement, a sanitization operation was launched in the area to track down any remaining militants.

The ISPR noted that the leadership of Fitna al Khawarij, based in Afghanistan, persists in directing such infiltration attempts to create a false impression of a domestic presence and to uplift the diminishing morale of its operatives in the Bajaur and Mohmand regions.

In light of the event, Pakistan has once again called on the Interim Afghan Government to implement effective measures to prevent its territory from being used by terrorist proxies for launching attacks against Pakistan.

This operation is part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign ‘Azm-e-Istehkam,’ which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. ‘The security forces of Pakistan remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation’s frontiers,’ the ISPR statement affirmed.
