Pakistan has agreed to resume crucial negotiations with the Afghan Taliban in Istanbul, reversing a planned departure in a last-minute decision to give the peace process another opportunity at the request of the host nation.

According to a report today, the Pakistani delegation, which was on the verge of leaving the city, will now remain in Istanbul for further discussions. The decision was made to provide another chance for a peaceful resolution by continuing the negotiation process.

The report indicated the renewed dialogue will focus on Pakistan’s principal demand that Afghanistan implements clear, verifiable, and effective action against terrorists.

It was further emphasized by Pakistan that Afghan soil must not be utilized for launching terrorism against it, a long-standing position reiterated during the proceedings.
