Sweden keen to boost ties with Pakistan in IT, Telecom

Ambassador of Sweden to Pakistan Henrik Persson called on Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms Shaza Fatima Khawaja here on Monday.

Views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest and boosting cooperation in the field of IT and Telecommunication between the two countries.

While talking to the Swedish Ambassador, Minister of State for IT said the present government is fully focused upon IT and Telecommunication sector, as the uplift of this sector is the first priority.

She noted that the IT exports of Pakistan are increasing, saying that Pakistan wants to increase its IT exports to Sweden, and business to business relations between the two countries.

She said we also want branding of Pakistan in the Swedish ICT Market. She said both Swedish and Pakistan’s tech companies can jointly organise roadshows.

Shaza Fatima went on to say that the collaboration in BPO sector will strengthened bilateral relations of the two countries. Pakistan and Sweden can get benefits from each other’s experiences in the field of technology, she said.

The Minister of State for IT also urged Swedish tech companies to invest in Pakistan, saying that atmosphere for foreign investment in Pakistan is conducive.

She said private sector is being fully supported and facilitated under the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Public-Private partnership can put the country on the path of development, she added.

The Swedish Ambassador said that Pakistan’s IT sector has great potential. Sweden is keen to enhance cooperation with Pakistan in the IT and Telecommunication sector, he said.

The meeting was also attended by Director General International Coordination Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi.
