A new survey reveals that a substantial majority of Pakistanis (76%) consider citizens working abroad to be more diligent than those remaining in the country. The study, conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, found that only 19% disagreed with this assessment.

The research involved a nationally representative sample of 930 adult men and women from both urban and rural locations across all four provinces. Participants were asked to evaluate the statement, ‘People who migrate possess certain characteristics compared to those who remain: They are more hardworking.’ A significant 49% deemed this “completely true,” while another 27% considered it “somewhat true.” Only 19% believed the statement was “not true at all,” with a mere 5% remaining uncertain or declining to answer.

This prevailing view underscores the favorable image of Pakistani expatriates and potentially indicates national recognition of the dedication and sacrifices undertaken by those pursuing international opportunities. The survey was carried out between March 7 and March 23, 2025, using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI). The margin of error is estimated at ± 2-3% with a 95% confidence level. The research was published by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, an affiliate of Gallup International.
