The Pakistan Stock Exchange experienced a notable surge on Friday as both the KSE-30 and KSE-100 indices recorded significant gains. The KSE-100 index soared by 2,787.36 points, closing at 114,113.94, while the KSE-30 index increased by 924.28 points, reaching 34,917.43.
This upward momentum represents percentage increases of 2.50% and 2.72% for the KSE-100 and KSE-30, respectively.
The ready market saw 331 companies registering gains, compared to 63 that declined, while 51 remained unchanged. The future market also reflected positive sentiment, with 315 companies advancing against 17 decliners and 1 unchanged. The stock market’s turnover was notable, with 372,363,708 shares traded in the regular market, although this was a decrease from the previous count of 490,948,134 shares.
Among the top performers, PIA Holding Company Limited led the pack with a significant increase of 436.63 points, closing at 4,802.96. Hoechst Pakistan Limited followed with a rise of 223.37 points, ending at 3,173.37. Meanwhile, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited faced the largest decrease, dropping by 461.63 points to close at 23,008.12.
Sui South Gas topped the turnover rankings with 29,319,891 shares traded, closing at 40.25. Other companies with significant activity included Cnergyico PK and B.O. Punjab, with turnovers of 27,367,683 and 20,836,529 shares, respectively.
The day’s trading reflected strong investor confidence, contributing to an increase in market capitalization, which now stands at 13,808,272,267,895, up from 13,520,596,055,505 previously.
