Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, sister of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and Chairperson of the Aafia Movement, has appealed to those observing Etikaf to offer special prayers for Dr. Aafia’s safety, health, and early release.

In a statement issued by the Aafia Movement Media Information Cell, she also urged scholars, mosque leaders, and the general public to pray for Dr. Aafia’s release during the last ten days of Ramadan and on the sacred nights.

She pointed out that Dr. Aafia is spending her 23rd Ramadan in solitary confinement. According to her, Dr. Aafia is being denied medical assistance in a U.S. prison unless she agrees to humiliating conditions. Additionally, she is not allowed to practice her religion freely or meet an Imam.

Dr. Fauzia expressed gratitude to people across the country who have been praying for Dr. Aafia’s release throughout Ramadan. She emphasized that in the first two decades of the holy month, a large number of people have expressed solidarity through phone calls and social media, reaffirming their commitment to seeking justice for her.
