Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign, 2025 by planting a sapling in Islamabad on Wednesday, marking the start of an ambitious effort to plant 41.7 million saplings nationwide.

During the launch event, the Prime Minister announced that the initiative will span all provinces, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He underscored the campaign’s role in reducing pollution and combating diseases.

Highlighting the urgency of the project, the Prime Minister referred to the devastating floods of 2022, noting Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change impacts, despite its minimal greenhouse gas emissions.

He called on citizens, particularly the youth and farmers, to contribute actively to the campaign, stressing the significance of tree planting amid shifting climatic and environmental conditions.
