The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) continues its strong enforcement of food safety regulations across the province, resulting in significant penalties, product seizures, and plant closures.
According to a statement on Thursday, recent operations in Hyderabad, Larkana, and Sanghar have highlighted the authority’s ongoing commitment to public health and safety.
Hyderabad: Under the leadership of Food Safety Officer Ishfa Zahid, the City Team confiscated 250 kilograms of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) during inspections. Violators were penalized with fines exceeding Rs200,000 for selling harmful substances.
Larkana and Bakrani: In a crackdown on dairy shops, Food Safety Officer Muhammad Ali Soomro’s team seized 350 liters of chemically adulterated milk. One shop was sealed, and fines of Rs. 60,000 were imposed for violating food safety standards.
Sanghar: In Tando Adam and Jhol, inspections of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants uncovered severe violations, including blackened filters, leaking vessels, high TDS levels (94), and improper waste management. Three RO plants were temporarily shut down, and fines were imposed.
