Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, sister of the incarcerated Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, has indicated that a significant development is expected in her case in the coming days, for which she has appealed for nationwide special prayers for her sister’s safe release.

As chairperson of the Aafia Movement International, Dr. Fowzia today appealed to the entire nation, particularly religious scholars and imams of mosques and seminaries, to organize special prayers. The request urges that prayers be organized for the “daughter of the nation” during the five daily prayers, with special emphasis during the Friday congregations.

The appeal aims to garner continuous and strong spiritual support, with the hope that divine intervention will generate global advocates for her release. Dr. Fowzia expressed the hope that these prayers would change the “hearts and minds” of the authorities who hold the “keys to the prison” in favor of Dr. Aafia’s freedom.

Dr. Fowzia reiterated her belief in her sister’s innocence, emphasizing that Aafia has endured 22 years of “unjust imprisonment” and suffered the profound pain of separation from her children and family.
