Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, in his special message on Pakistan’s Independence Day, emphasized today national unity and reiterated support for the Kashmiri and Palestinian struggles for self-determination.

He described independence as a “priceless blessing” requiring collective responsibility for its protection and stability. Gilani paid tribute to the sacrifices made by forefathers in achieving freedom and urged parliamentarians to rise above political differences for national progress. He lauded the armed forces, security institutions, and law enforcement agencies for protecting the country”s sovereignty. The Chairman also expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir and Palestine, pledging continued support for their right to self-determination.

The Senate Chairman highlighted the contributions of the Pakistan People’s Party to the nation”s history, mentioning Zulfikar Ali Bhutto”s role in the nuclear program, Benazir Bhutto”s struggle for democracy, Asif Ali Zardari”s contribution to provincial autonomy, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari”s current leadership. He emphasized the importance of a strong parliamentary system for national unity and progress. Gilani concluded by calling for investment in youth development and a renewed commitment to building a prosperous and strong Pakistan.
