The Pakistani community in the United Arab Emirates marked Pakistan’s Independence Day with fervent displays of patriotism and pride, culminating in a record-breaking gathering of approximately 60,000 people at Dubai Expo City on August 10th.

Flag-raising events took place at the Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai, attracting families from all over the Emirates. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi led the ceremony in Abu Dhabi, joining citizens and community leaders in honoring the national occasion.

In his address, Ambassador Tirmizi underscored the importance of unity, faith, and discipline as guiding principles for Pakistan”s future. He acknowledged the nation”s strength and solidarity in overcoming obstacles and lauded recent landmark achievements in national security.

The envoy also highlighted the significant role of overseas Pakistanis in strengthening ties between the two countries, citing their contribution of $7.9 billion in remittances last year and their crucial service to the UAE”s development.

Ambassador Tirmizi announced the introduction of a digital platform for tracking passport and National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) applications, praising the embassy”s IT department for this innovative development. He also shared that discussions are underway with several Pakistani private educational institutions to establish branches in the UAE, aiming to improve access to quality, affordable schooling.
