KARACHI: Rejecting the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision in the Punjab chief minister election case, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday suggested to hold a long march from Rawalpindi to Lahore to register protest against the apex court’s verdict.

Chairing the meeting of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of political parties which now form the coalition government at Center, at Chak Shehzad in Islamabad, Fazl said that the alliance would now have to determine its direction. “There is a need to identify all those characters who are still supporting the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI),” he asserted.

Speaking from London via a video link, former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif claimed that it was only for the country’s sake that his party had decided to join the coalition government.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Senator Tahir Bizenjo, a delegation of Jamiat Ahle Hadith, led by its Ameer Sajid Mir, Qaumi Watan Party head Aftab Sherpao and other senior politicians belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other parties were in attendance.
