In a fervent display of support, Pakistan TehreekeInsaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh on Monday announced that 91 percent of Pakistanis are rallying behind party founder Imran Khan, demanding his immediate release as the nation prepares to mobilize after Eid.
A workers’ convention took place in Rajput Society, Sohrab Goth Town, organized to galvanize backing for Khan’s release. The event saw a significant turnout of PTI leaders, workers, and women, including key figures such as Haleem Adil Sheikh, General Secretary Dr Masroor Sial, and several others.
Postconvention, a motorcycle rally proceeded from Rajput Society to AlAsif Square, led by Haleem Adil Sheikh. Participants vocally demanded the release of their detained leader.
During the convention, Sheikh emphasized that the overwhelming support for Imran Khan stems from a shared desire to realize Allama Iqbal’s dream and protect the Pakistan envisioned by QuaideAzam. He pledged that Karachi, a city with historical significance, will not succumb to “thieves and looters,” asserting that Sindh is ready for change and a nationwide movement will commence after Eid.
He condemned the treatment of Khan and his wife in jail, warning that such actions are intensifying public discontent and national discord. Sheikh urged unity, recalling the collective national response to past aggression from India.
Criticism was also directed at what he described as the theft of the public mandate, arguing that those imposed through rigged elections lack legitimacy. He contended that Imran Khan, a leader elected by the people, has been unjustly imprisoned, with PTI being systematically marginalized.
Sheikh conveyed optimism, declaring, “The dark night of tyranny and oppression is nearing its end.” He insisted on the release of Imran Khan, PTI leaders, and thousands of workers detained on what he called fabricated charges.
Other speeches were delivered by PTI Sindh General Secretary Dr Masroor Sial, Karachi Senior Vice President Faheem Khan, Aftab Jahangir, and event organizer Naveed Siddiqui.
