President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have jointly commended the Pakistan Navy for its valor, expertise, and distinguished services in national defense. Their tributes on Pakistan Navy Day highlighted the naval force’s fearless role during the 1965 war, particularly noting the daring Somnath Operation against India’s Dwarka port.

The Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi demonstrated the nation’s military prowess in the 1965 war, effectively countering hostile threats. President Zardari emphasized the Navy’s continuous evolution into a multifaceted force capable of safeguarding coastal territories while paying homage to the sacrifices of martyrs and the resolve of veterans.

Prime Minister Sharif also acknowledged the Navy’s triumph in the war for righteousness, noting its expanding role in diverse domains beyond traditional defense. He highlighted the Navy’s involvement in promoting the maritime economy, enhancing port infrastructure, and providing humanitarian assistance, which has elevated Pakistan’s international standing.
