Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh, stated in a press conference at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Press Club in Qambar today that the party has always stood against dams and canals on the Indus River. He clarified that the PPP leadership, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari, has explained the approval of canals through constitutional forums.

Nisar Ahmed Khuhro mentioned that the funds for the canals would be with the Chief Minister, and the strategy would be to eliminate the canal. He said that the people of Sindh have never accepted canals, and the party has always worked with the people to defeat generals and dictators.

He further stated that Maryam Nawaz inspected the canals, but Nawaz Sharif could not construct the Kalabagh Dam; how would Maryam Nawaz construct a canal? The PPP, along with the people of Sindh, will strive to eliminate the canals permanently.

Khuhro said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had put an end to the Kalabagh Dam and Greater Thal Canal by organizing a sit-in against them. He mentioned that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto made Pakistan a constitutional state and provided rights to the people.

The press conference was also attended by Qamaruddin Gopang, President of Pakistan People’s Party Qambar Shahdadkot District, and other prominent figures.
